Are You SkinFit?

Are you skinfit? When you think about health, wellness, and fitness, we think about our bodies, but how healthy is your skin? I have a few tips and products that I love to get your skin into tip top shape.

Firstly, always wash your face at night. I know it can be hard, but trust me, sleeping in your makeup ages your skin and who’s got time for that? I live for Skinceuitcals Simply Clean Cleanser. It keeps my skin in check and limits the amount of break outs.

Secondly, commit to a skincare routine. The three most important products that should be in your routine are a vitamin c serum, a retinol, and sunscreen. My go to vitamin c product is skinceuticals ce ferulic. It is brightening, smoothing, and oh so good for your skin. This is my “if you could only take one skincare product with you” it’s that good! This product is used in the AM only. I also love the skinceuticals retinol as well and skin better intensive Alpha Ret. Both of these are very gentle, yet very effective, and also hydrating. SkinBetter Alpha Ret has won several awards and has only been out for about two years…patients rave about this product. Lastly, if you want to prevent your skin from sun damage you must wear sunscreen every single day and don’t forget your neck, decolletage, and hands. Your neck and hands show your age way faster than your face. Prevention is key! I have a couple of favorites that I love…specifically Alastin’s Hydratint if you are looking for a product that can give you a little coverage as well. Elta MD has a great sheer sunscreen, and then Colorscience powder brushes are also great for touch ups throughout the day.

A nightly ritual that I love is using my LightStim for wrinkles. What is LightStim? Just like plants, our skin and body tissues have the ability to absorb light and convert it into energy. LightStim LED light therapy delivers light energy in a similar way plants absorb light energy from the sun. LightStim emits UV-free, beneficial light energy to the skin. Each LightStim product uses different wavelengths, or colors, of light. When this beneficial light is applied directly to the skin it can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, temporarily increase blood circulation, and treat mild to moderate acne.

Last, but not least, another benefit to keeping your skin fit is treatments every 6 to 8 weeks. We love chemical peels to accelerate cell turnover and for glowing skin. We love a good laser treatment around here as well, and a favorite is Fraxel. Fraxel, is a FDA-approved laser device used to treat the signs of aging in the skin, such as fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, and sun damage (or age) spots. IPL is another treatment that uses intense pulsed light to lift brown spots and pigment on the skin. With fall right around the corner, this is a great time to prep your skin for the holiday season.
