Before
- Consult with your provider to choose the right peel for your concerns
- Avoid sun exposure for at least 4 weeks prior to minimize sensitivity
- Pause retinoids, AHA/BHA and other exfoliants 1 week before
- Avoid waxing or depilatory creams on the treatment area for 2 weeks before
- Hydrate well and drink plenty of water leading up to treatment
- Inform your provider about any medications affecting skin sensitivity
After
- Expect peeling and redness as a normal part of the healing process
- Use mild, non-irritating cleansers and moisturizers
- Protect healing skin with a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen
- Do not pick or peel — allow skin to shed naturally to prevent scarring
- Stay hydrated to aid skin recovery
- Follow any specific post-peel instructions from your provider
